The context: making skills verifiable

RecomMe started from a simple observation: skills only carry weight when they are proven and concretely backed up. A CV asserts; a recommendation demonstrates.

Yet professional recommendations are scattered today: a note on LinkedIn, a lost email, a reference mentioned out loud in an interview. They are barely visible, hard to centralise and even harder to showcase.

The stake for RecomMe? Giving professionals a simple way to build, receive and share a real portfolio of skills and experience, where every skill is backed by a concrete, verifiable recommendation.

The real challenge was not just storing recommendations: it was making them credible, readable and desirable.

Anyone had to be able to request references easily through a guided journey, with no friction and no awkwardness. Then those replies — sometimes informal — had to become structured, visual assessments. And all of it had to land in a portfolio clear enough, shareable enough and beautiful enough that people would want to show it.

Behind that smooth experience sat several technical needs: real-time request statuses, a level-based assessment system, skill validation, referee profile management and deep personalisation of every portfolio.

1.Framing and UX
We designed RecomMe around proof. The goal? Make requesting a recommendation as simple as filling in a form, and a portfolio as clear as a CV.
2.Designing the recommendation experience
We built a guided form that lets users ask their referees in a few clicks, then designed a visual skill assessment system (levels, "validated" / "self-declared" statuses, referee comments). Every recommendation becomes a tangible part of the profile.
3.Building the platform
We built the complete web application: a space to manage recommendation requests (draft, pending, received, declined), a customisable professional profile, grouping of skills, experience and projects, and a shareable dynamic portfolio — in French and English, with international expansion in mind.

Every week, a checkpoint let us validate progress, adjust priorities and prepare the next sprints.

Figma prototyping

Before coding, every journey (requester side and referee side) was prototyped interactively. RecomMe could try the interface for real, adjust the UX and validate decisions very early on.

Continuous test environments

As development progressed, we gave the client staging environments. As soon as a feature was ready, they could use it in real conditions and send us feedback so we could iterate fast.

The client stays in full control at every step and watches their product take shape in real time: no tunnel, no bad surprise on delivery.
